MAC teamed up with Disney to create a bunch of mini collections within one huge collection, inspired by four of the most sinister and evil villains they’ve ever had — Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), The Evil Queen (Snow White), Dr. Facilier (The Princess & The Frog), and last but not least Cruella De Vil (101 Dalmations). These are the villains (minus Dr. Facilier — I admit I still haven’t seen this movie lol) who scared the living crap out of me as a child and still give me the creeps to this day — especially Maleficent. Each one has a different look, and you can see all of the inspiration drawn from their evil attitudes, outfits, etc. in each collection. I am a HUGE kid when it comes to Disney movies. I still watch them to this day, curled up in bed with my dog. These are the movies that jump-started my imagination and have kept me youthful and kinda silly thru the years. So, I had to splurge. This was kind of a sentimental collection for me, I’ll admit.

This is my second (and last) huge MAC haul for the year. I allow myself two per year, otherwise I’d be eating ramen every single day…and that would be sad at my age lol. Also keep in mind that most of the items are priced around a dollar higher than normal because of licensing. I’m not too crazy about the product packing, its okay — not that exciting (but the product is awesome). The packaging is much sleeker than the normal MAC packaging, as in its shinier (think Bobbi Brown), and the illustrations from each character is stamped on each piece — no stickers! The boxes each piece came in is actually more fabulous than the product packaging lol. Each type of product has a different angle or view of the villains directly from the movie. So, I’m just gonna tell you right now that I love this collection — didn’t think I would, but I do. It’s adorable, it’s fierce, it’s sentimental, and everything is usable (for me at least).

MY FAVORITE ITEMS

• The magically cool liquid powder in Cajun is the coolest cosmetic product I’ve ever purchased. It literally feels like cold water on your skin, and I can’t stop playing with it. It gives you a beautiful soft finish with a very subtle sheen — looks amazing on the cheeks. I absolutely love it, do not sleep on this product you guys. I bought two of them because I know I’m gonna go thru that first jar quick!
• Wicked Ways lipglass is one of the most gorgeous colors I’ve seen in a very long time. I just wanna eat it. It’s beautiful. It literally looks like passion in a tube. If you put Wicked Ways over Heartless lipstick, your lips are gonna look like pure sex. Hot house is also gorgeous so if you didn’t get that one from the Strange Hybrid collection, get it now.
• Toxic Tale lipstick is scary as heck, but I truly love it. It’s super fierce with MAC’s Currant lip liner
• All three nail laquers are gorgeous. I know there are Orly dupes for two of them, but I don’t own any Orly so these are fine with me. Formidable! is my favorite color of the three. It’s beautiful!
• Both She Who Dares and My Dark Magic mineralize eyeshadows are so intense and so so pretty. I can’t wait to do a look with them. The blue area from She Who Dares does remind me of Blue Flame that came out with the Style Black collection, but I find it to run a tad darker.

I didn’t buy any of the single eyeshadows because I already have colors way too similar to them anyway. I’m contemplating buying a backup of Wicked Ways. I know me, and I know that I run thru shades like that quickly so it might be in my best interest to make a second trip to the MAC counter. I found the mineralize eyeshadows from the Maleficent collection to be very pigmented and smooth. I didn’t use a base for those swatches and they show up so well. Bite of an Apple blush is really pretty on the face, but if you have a coral blush already (ie. MAC Marine Life, Rock & Republic Immoral) then you aren’t going to die without it. It’s a bit more red than Marine Life, but at the end of the day the difference isn’t incredibly huge.

A bulk of this stuff arrived yesterday, but I was very unhappy with the swatches — and they’re still not great but they’re much better than the first ones I took. Sorry I’m posting this so late

I seriously love that palette, you guys. It’s got a nice selection of pretty and wearable colors that can easily go from office to party. The eyeshadows don’t have names on the back of the palette, which I find highly annoying. On the flipside, I love the texture of the shadows — they’re very silky and blendable and they all work together. The palette is very small and compact, easy to carry and adorable. I only paid $12 for the palette, so that’s an awesome deal.

I was just playing around with the shadows and I took the darker teal color (Shimmering Azure) and Make Up For Ever’s popular #92 matte purple in the outer corner. I wanted to see how well this shadow blends and I found it super easy to work with. Love it!

Anyway, I’ve gotta get myself ready to buy this super expensive camera so I can get back to Youtube which I sorely miss. I’ll update soon Love you guys!

I picked up five of the eyeshadows ($14.50) — already owned Atlantic Blue. I also picked up four of the six new lipglasses ($18), which to me honestly look exactly like dazzleglasses, but they don’t feel like’em because they’re not as goopy or heavy. They have a moderate stick to them, but they definitely don’t feel like honey on your lips and I actually like the texture. If you apply them to freshly moisturized lips, they feel good. They’re also very pigmented and opaque, so that’s a bonus. If you’re a lip junkie like I am, you may very well love these.

These new lipglasses would look insane over your favorite lipstick. One of the MAC makeup artists had Gimme That! on top of the Lady Gaga Viva Glam lipstick and it was fierce. I put Ban This! on top of Go For It from the In the Groove collection and I almost cried it was so pretty!!

As for the eyeshadows, they’re mostly matte shades…and those can be a bitch to work with, but these didn’t give me too many annoying issues. I used my MAC 275 brush to swatch these. I feel that the white goat hair picks up matte formulas really well. Going Bananas is the only frost formula from what I purchased, but I find that Atlantic Blue and Shock-a-holic have a really pretty subtle sparkle to them regardless of being mattes. None of the shadows I swatched were overly powdery and messy, but that varies from person to person and depends on which tools you’re using.

Several shades in this collection are from the Pro line and you can order those without having to be a pro member, no worries — you just won’t get the discount. I will be picking up So Bad lipglass, which is a beautiful coral orange with pink and gold pearl. I’ll just get that one later

Overall, I really like this collection a lot. It’s small, but it packs a serious punch if you’re into bright and fun colors and like to mix and match your lip products. Very fun stuff here you guys, so go check it out!

MY OPINION ON THE STEREO ROSE HYPE:

On my face, it’s pretty — on the back of my hand, not really. But then again, these are meant for the face, not your arm lol. I think it would look beautiful on just about anyone, honestly. I can totally see why some girls are going loco for this, but for me it’s just pretty and glowy — like all of my other MSF’s. There’s tiny bits of bronze and coral in there so when you swirl your brush you pick up this gorgeous mess of soft color. So here’s the thing, if you have this — great and good for you. If you don’t — don’t worry, it’s really not that special to the point where you need to drive 4 states over to the nearest MAC store who might have one left. I still think it’s beautiful, but it’s not the most gorgeous thing in the entire world. The only product I feel was worth 90% of the hype recently was MAC’s Marine Life beauty powder. Now that baby there, is GORGEOUS! Especially on my skin. I had to get a back up of that one. Anyhow, I swatched this shade next to Brunette because I know lots of you own that and you can just do a color comparison.

As for the Style Influencer shadow, you can definitely tell that MAC changed up their formula. This shadow was amazingly smooth and easy to apply without much fuss. I love the colors in this one, you can really do a sexy smokey eye or a daytime look — everybody wins. I might go back for one or two more but that is really all.

Band of Roses blush duo is gorgeous. Really pretty on my skin-tone, and because of the deeper plum shade I’d say this is one darker skinned girls can also wear. It’s incredibly pigmented and smooth, so it’s a winner in my book. It was the only blush that didn’t remind me of something I already had so I grabbed it.

There is one item from the collection that I absolutely plan to buy next week and that’s the Get-Away Bronze blush. I swatched it next to Format because they looked similar in the pan, but they’re pretty different. Format is a bit darker, more of an antique bronze color, where Get-Away Bronze is definitely a lighter, more beachy bronze — its really beautiful. I already own Sun Rush lustre drops, Refined Golden bronzer, Humid and Shimmermoss eyeshadow.

I missed out on Marine Life initially. I went to the MAC counter an hour after the release…and get this…they were all gone. WTF?!?! I was pretty pissed lol. I wanted to grab at least two of them. A week went by, and my dear sugarbooger hit me up on twitter to tell me she got me one *insert the most epic poplock of the season* YES! Finally! I’m so thankful she was able to snag one for me because I absolutely love it. It’s a gorgeous bright coral shade with a soft baby pink highlight around the lower rim with subtle shimmer. There is a gold overspray that immediately disappears once you touch it — womp! But that’s okay, because the product alone is so beautiful you won’t even miss the overspray. I use it as a blush and its my favorite color right now — it lasts all day! So thank you again girly <3

OVERALL

I really liked this collection for the most part. I thought it was really fun and juicy for Summer. The colors are appropriate for the heat…very sexy and sultry. The only item I would consider a “must-have” is Marine Life. There may be something out there similar to it, but I damn sure don’t own it lol. I think its really beautiful and I adore how long it lasts on my cheeks. It gives me a beautiful coral cheek and looks bomb w/ my bronzer. I wish I had two, because I can see me hitting pan on this one in a few months. The only item from this collection I was least wow’d by was the creme bronzer. It just wasn’t that special to me. I honestly might take it back, I’m on the fence. I’ll post a FOTD very soon using Marine Life so you can see how it looks on the face. When I took these pics, I didn’t wanna swatch it — hence the weak swatch lol. Sorry guys…

As for the lip products, my favorite is Flurry of Fun. It’s so pretty!! It reminds me so much of Comet Blue Dazzleglass because of the gorgeous blue shimmer. It’s a sheer peachy color with a subtle blue shimmer, I can’t describe it, its really really nice. I bet it would look amazing over Temperature’s Rising lip pencil. I also really love the MAC 131 and 130 brushes. I think I need a second 130 brush…it’s that amazing!

I think this is the third time I’ve actually purchased “going, going, gone” items from MAC, and I’m happy with what I got. I love all of the lip colors. Utter fun is gorgeous and very wearable, and since it’s a lustre, it’s also very buildable. A nice semi-sheer lipstick sexy for summer. Spiced Tea is another pretty color, perfect for a nude lip with a twist. The glaze formula gives a tiny bit of dimension, and the new Tunnel of Love Superglass looks gorgeous on top of it. I had a sample of the Bi-Tone mineralize blush that was crushed up — btw, shattered mineralize blushes are insaaanely pretty!! But anyway, I had a sample because the MAC counter I frequent didn’t have any to sell, so when I saw this online…duh, I had to get it. Full Fuchsia blush is fabulous – extremely pigmented, smooth, matte and has that signature blue undertone that ‘fuchsia’ is known for. You have to be very careful when you’re dealing with this blush though, you could easily end up lookin like Lil Kim’s Raggedy Ann lookin ass — no bueno.

I picked these up today, and have already tried them on and all that jazz. I got five of the nine colors for now, and the ones I picked up are:

• Tunnel of Love – deep blue brown
• Fab Frenzy – deep blue purple
• Totally Bang! – fuchsia
• Cherry Electric – bright cherry pink
• Gift Wrap – light pinky peach

These retail for $18.00 a piece, and you get 4.5g/0.15 oz (but on the box it says 4.3g…whatever), compared to Dazzleglass’s 1.92g/0.06oz which are also $18.00 a piece. So you’re getting more product for your buck with the Superglass. MAC must’ve heard everyone complaining about the product size…

The main difference between these and Dazzleglass is that the tube isn’t a regular cylindrical shape (oh snap, check me out with the SAT words), it has a hexagonal shape, which helps prevent it from rolling off the table (if you’ve ever had that problem). The size of the glitter is also larger than the more finely milled microglitter in the Dazzleglasses. These have the normal vanilla scent that pretty much all MAC lip products have and are tasteless. They’re about the same thickness/stickiness as a Dazzleglass. I didn’t find them to be overly goopy and gunky, but they have a decent amount of thickness, which will only help them to stay on longer and hydrate the lips.

PROS

• They come in nine shades, so there’s guaranteed to be something for just about everyone.
• They look insanely gorgeous over any lipstick, so start experimenting with combos!
• You get more product for your money versus regular Dazzleglasses.
• The thickness will adhere to your lips for a longer amount of time.
• They smell awesome.
• Most of the shades have a decent amount of pigmentation, but they do have more sheer shades for you shy folks

CONS

• Some of the shades may look pretty boring alone, which is why I recommend layering them on top of your favorite lipstick.
• If you use too much, you may feel tiny bits of glitter when you move your lips back and forth. It’s not incredibly harsh and most people may not even feel it, but is a factor.
• Sticky, but you should already expect that.
• The glitter tends to travel over time and you may find bits of glitter around your mouth after a few hours.

OVERALL

I really do like the Superglasses. Again, they’re essentially a “Dazzleglass-on-Crack” but I love Dazzleglasses, so these are right up my alley. They’re not for everyone, though. I wouldn’t expect conservative gals to love these, or anyone who hates glitter…but for someone like me who loves to turn the volume up on my lipsticks, I think they’re fab. Because the glitter chunks are larger, you’re gonna slightly feel them if you pile this stuff on too heavily. I’ve purchased much cheaper lipgloss that felt like sandpaper on my lips because of the poor quality and overabundance of harsh glitter, and that really sucks. This stuff, when piled on..I can feel the glitter but it’s not as harsh as the cheaper brands at all.

Since I wasn’t very moved by this collection, I decided to get a few staples from the permanent line that I sadly didn’t have. The Empowered lipstick came out with the ‘All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Collection’ and I love a good neutral shade, so I got that one. I also picked up Lucky Green, Cork, Texture, Soba and Soft Brown eyeshadows. Great transition and crease colors. Lucky Green is less shimmery version of Golden Olive pigment. Just when I thought I was done with mineralize blushes, I swatched Gentle at the store and just had to have it. I’ll do a swatch of all the mineralize blushes I have (in a future post) so you guys can see the differences. When you swatch one, you tend to think it looks like one you already have, but then you see that they’re not quite the same. Well…maybe…I still don’t have them all, but I have a decent amount.

I decided not to swatch the eyeshadow’s because it’s honestly a waste of time. They show up, but they look boring on their own. You’re probably saying, “Well, why did you buy them?” Again, they’re awesome colors for transitioning two or more shades, or for toning down any bright colors, etc. They’re staples, and I need staples. I have so many of MAC’s brighter colors, and not enough of their gorgeous neutrals. Gotta build my kit accordingly!

On my way out of Macy’s, I said to myself…“Wait a minute….this Prêt-à-Papier lipglass looks like the Happenin’ Gal lipglass from the Barbie Loves MAC collection!”. So of course I swatched them side-by-side, and here’s the result:

Similar, but not quite the same. The Happenin’ Gal is cooler with more pink and burgandy, and the Prêt-à-Papier is warmer with just tiny bits of red. Dah well. I’m not taking it back, I really like it.

Empowered looks amazing with my NYX lip pencil in Brown, with a tiny bit of Prêt-à-Papier lipglass on top. This is a great everyday lip combo that’s work and church friendly. I find that Empowered needs a lip liner (for me, at least) because it’s a cooler neutral without it. A nice warm lip liner will heat it up and make it look better on warm skin. Alone, it looks amazing on cooler skin-tones. Here’s a pic of me wearing Empowered with the NYX Brown lip liner, and a bit of Prêt-à-Papier on top.

Here’s a light application of MAC’s Gentle mineralize blush. It’s so pretty. I still need to get my hands on Bi-tone mineralize blush duo from the Too Fabulous collection. That one is gorgeous!

OVERALL THOUGHTS…

This collection might be fabulous for someone who doesn’t have many MAC products. You may find it to be very wearable, because it’s so toned down. But for those who have a lot of MAC products, and don’t want more of the same, you probably won’t need much from this collection. Die hard MAC freaks may buy it just because that’s what they do. Or, you may think it’s boring and not worth it and totally skip it altogether. Make sure you swatch things first so you’re not too disappointed. As gorgeous as the new paintpot is, I wouldn’t say its a MUST-have, but it’s definitely a NICE-to-have. I adore paintpots so I’m all about collecting as many as I can.

So that’s about it. I’m sooo sleepy. After drinking several cups of Earl Grey tea from Teaism in DC, this Benedryl is making sweet love to my bloodstream. Make sure you guys check out the Prêt-à-Papier collection, you may find some things you’d love. Everybody’s different, so what I love/like, you may not and what I may not like, you may love. I skipped Give Me Liberty of London and Free to Be eyeshadows. I have a pigment (Cool Pink) that looks exactly like GMLL e/s, and Free to Be (Matte – creamy true coral) is available otherwise, so I can buy that later if I really want it.

OVERALL THOUGHTS…

This was a pretty small and adorable collection. I’m glad it wasn’t as large as Spring Colour Forecast, because I’d be broke as hell right about now. I did overspend about $35 with this collection, but I still stayed under $200, and for me that’s pretty good. As of now, this collection is pretty much sold out online and probably at most stores/counters. At my MAC counter, they had a SMALL box of things left over after just the third day of debut. If you are interested in this collection, you better act fast!

The second thing that caught my eyes were the gorgeous Ombre’ blushes ($25 each). OH EM GEE! They were stunning. Gorgeous soft gradients of color in one compact. I was in heaven. My irresponsible side wanted to buy all four, but after swatching them all, I settled on two of them. I picked up Ripe Peach and Vintage Grape. The remaining two, while gorgeous, just don’t do it for my skin tone. Springshine barely showed up on me, and Azalea Blossom was way too cool for my olive skin. It just wouldn’t work no matter what lol. I didn’t pick up any of the color-stacks because I have over 90 pigments, and I wasn’t really feelin’ the texture of them…

Aside from the two blush ombres, I also picked up three of the lipglasses (Gold Dust, Kumquat and Electric Fuschia), one lipstick (Bronzilla – frost), and two of the eyeshadows (Straw Harvest – veluxe pearl, and Hot Hot Hot – satin).

OVERALL THOUGHTS…

This was a really gorgeous and seriously large collection for Spring. You definitely cannot be afraid of color with this collection, and for all of you bold girls, I really feel you’d love this one. My favorites from this collection would have to be the blush ombre’s and the gorgeous lipglasses. The Gold Dust and Kumquat colors are BEAUTIFUL on darker skin tones, so I hope you brown ladies picked these up. Bronzilla is also very pretty, but not a must-have. I got it because I liked it the most out of the other lipsticks. I’m very happy with the things I did buy and find myself reaching for them quite often. Money well spent.
