Yea..I was bored. I did this look about two weeks ago, but figured now would be a good time to post it. I wasn’t trying to go for anything special here, just wanted a green face lol. I didn’t feel like doing my neck or ears. It’s a very light reflecting look and would still be pretty with matte shadows, but I didn’t wanna use matte’s because I didn’t want my face to be stained. I don’t have any major Halloween plans, I’ve gotta go to work the next day. I hope enough kids knock on the door and take all this damn delicious candy before I eat it all myself!

More drama for yo mama These shadows are a dream to blend, even when wet — I’m very impressed with the improving quality of MAC’s mineralize eyeshadows. I sprayed MAC Fix + onto my 217 brush just to get it slightly moist and pick up the sparkles of each part of the shadow and it worked very nicely. The more you work with these shadows you uncover more and more marbleized veining and that’s what truly makes these shadows unique — everyone’s veining will be different.

Oh, and I used a makeup-remover wipe to clean up the edges…just in case you’re wondering Check out the “My Dark Magic” FOTD in case you missed it.

This look is pretty dark and dramatic, but very sultry. Perfect for a night out — or a night in, hehe The greasepaint stick is such a nice base for pretty much any eyeshadow you put on top, and most of the colors are beautiful when worn alone. I used a MAC 217 brush to blend the edges so that it wasn’t such a harsh line, then with a 239 brush I patted the shadow on top — which also helps the *sparkles* show up better in person. Briar Rose is beautifully pigmented, but I had to tone it down because it was waaay too much initially so you may not even see it that well in the pictures due to the flash, but it’s there!

For the second lip look, there’s an example of how you can tone down the super loud being that is known as Toxic Tale. Currant and any other wine colored lip liner really tone it down and make it more wearable. It’s still beautiful alone but I wanted to give you an option in case you’re too chicken to wear it by itself LOL

I love doing soft neutral eyes with a bangin’ bold lip — whether it’s red, purple, hot pink, whatever I’m in the mood for. While it’s true I’m addicted to smokey-eye looks, I realize not everybody is comfortable with those looks so I hope you find this easy to replicate. I wanted to use some colors that would basically speak my immune system right about now lol. I said to myself, “I feel kinda ew so let’s do a dirty green paint pot with a black shadow and tarnished brown gold in the crease and a bold lip” and well…there’s the result.

I know I may not look totally under-the-weather, and I’m not as sick as I was yesterday but I definitely have that lingering cough and minor body aches. I’ve been drinking tons of orange juice, taking shots of Airborne, popping Ricola’s, eating light, trying to rest up and it seems to be working. I do need a full day to just rest and relax but I know that will never happen. I have so much work to do and I can’t back out because a lot of people in the office are on vacation so others are depending on me. Can’t let’em down! If I could just get a few hours to nap though, I’d be so grateful. Because I’m a little sick I made sure I didn’t use my fingers for any of today’s makeup application. I disinfected everything w/ alcohol too. I’m a germophobe, what can I say. However, taking 20 minutes out of my day to do my face did make me feel a little better. Hope you guys enjoy your weekend!

Scotch tape is sticky, so place it on the back of your hand to remove some of the stickiness before you put it in the corner of your eye. You don’t want to put it right on your eye because it will pull your skin too much when you go to remove it. Prime both lids with UDPP, then used a tiny bit of Blackbean on the lower lid just to give it a darker base. Blend that out with your finger and take a flat eyeshadow brush and apply the black eyeshadow (any brand will do). Place the eyeshadow just on the shape of your lid, stop where you feel your crease. Blend the black out a bit with a blending brush, I used the MAC 217. Take a clean blending brush and apply a tiny bit of the Lithe pigment into the crease and softly blend out to diffuse the black a bit. Don’t bring the crease color onto the lid (although tiny bits of it will naturally fall down). If you do get too much of the crease color on the lid, just go back with the black and reapply. Line your upper and lower water-line with a black pencil of your choice. Take a bit of the black eyeshadow on a pencil brush, I used the MAC 219 and smoke out your lower lash-line. Apply your mascara, remove your tape and you’re done with the eyes.

Easy look, kinda hooker’ish but I’m okay with that. I might submit one of those pics to Temptalia’s Feline Challenge, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. This palette has a ton of silver and grey eyeshadows of different depths and shades, enough to give you many smokey combinations. You may also find these colors appropriate for the upcoming freeze-ball months, as most of the shades are frosty/shimmery (but not a hot mess).

For the look above I used eyeshadow colors from the second column of the palette (2, 6 and 7) and the second blush to the right. For lip color, I used Rock & Republic lip gloss in Mistress with NYX Cocoa lip liner.

PROS

• Affordable
• Lots of grey’s and silvers to choose from
• Pretty good quality shadows — I’m impressed!
• Blendable and easy to work with
• Dumb easy to create a smokey look with this palette, even for the makeup novice
• Super easy to travel with
• Convenient — packs different items for multiple uses

CONS

• None of the colors have any names or numbers to associate themselves with. So you have no idea what color you’re really using…so you have to make something up
• The magnetic closure could be better, I find this palette can open very easily and possibly create a mess in your purse/makeup bag, etc.
• The plastic divider between the eyeshadows and the blushes and lip colors is loose, and it would be better if it were enforced down the middle so that it stays in place. If it slides around, you can find eyeshadow dust in your lip products and that’s no good.
• The spongetip applicator…c’mon now…

OVERALL

I really like this palette, and I’m quite impressed with it. The one thing I don’t like, are the super gummy vaseline’y lip glosses. I don’t like the way they feel at all, despite the cute colors they come in. The blushes and the eyeshadows are equally soft in texture, and crumble easier than a higher-end product, but it’s not as bad as E.L.F. lol! NYX made it very easy to create a simple and sexy smokey eye and because of the low price, it’s also easier on your pockets. The shadows range in taupey-greys to mushroom silvers to standard blacks. For the look I did above, I used colors 2, 6 and 7 from the second column — I wish I could tell you their names, but they’re incognito I guess lol. I used my MAC brushes for this, and it came out pretty well and was so easy to do. It’s really nice to see that NYX is stepping up their pigmentation game too I packed these on top of the NYX Eyeshadow Base (white) and I didn’t have any creasing from that product, which is really good. I’ll have to review it for you guys in the future.

Lord have mercy, Bedroom blush by Rock & Republic is SO gorgeous!! I love it love it love it As a matter of fact (and this may be premature), Rock & Republic is killing the competition when it comes to blushes. Anyway, so yea this is a very simple look that would be great on anyone who loves greens. As always, any look you want to replicate — make sure you do it according to your own eye shape. I have tons of eyelid space so if you have less, don’t go as high with colors as I do.
