So you wanna look a hot mess? Of course you don't. Nobody really intends to look a hot mess, but sometimes it just happens. Some of us don't have good friends to pull us to the side and say "Hey girl, that blush is pretty but I think you should use a little less", or "Girl your eyebrows are so close together they're about to start dating!". I put on some really brave shoes to include multiple makeup infractions on my face all at once so you guys can see what looking a hot mess entails. Are you ready? Brace yourselves...cuz this aint pretty!

You ever see a lipstick that you loved in the tube, and maybe even swatched on the back of your hand...but on your face it's just a big super bright mess? That was a problem I had with a very beautiful lipstick called Impassioned ($14.50 - Amplified) by MAC. It's a very bright fuchsia that is honestly too bright even for me. To wear it I would have to lightly dab it and blend it with a darker lip liner in that same color family -- which is a great solution...but there's another one...

Deep cleaning your brushes takes dedication and a couple of ounces of "give a damn". You spend all this money on your brushes so you better take proper care of them, right? The ever famous MAC Brush Cleanser is a popular staple amongst makeup enthusiasts, including myself. I absolutely love it -- but only for spot cleaning. I prefer to use something else that actually isn't a brush cleanser at all...

I've been doing a lot of bright eyeballs lately lol. I decided to tone it down a bit for today and just aim the focus on my "lee-yups" (lips), while smoking my eyes out just a bit. This is a look that's simple enough for a day-time look, but has enough punch to be fierce in the evening as well. Enjoy!

The first time I used a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (MSF), I saw doves and heard Jennifer Hudson hit her Dreamgirls high-note and it sealed the deal for me, all while opening up a new addiction. I felt like a cosmetic version of crackhead Pookie from New Jack City. I was twitching like "More! I need more!". Over time, I started to slooowly build a decent MSF collection and I'm cool with what I have :) I haven't felt the urgent need to buy every single one anymore, unless it's truly unique and nothing like what I already own. This is for my beginners, and/or those curious about MSF's -- and also for those who may need a swatch reference down the road ;)

Are your eyelids as oily as Jermaine Jackson? If you find your eyeshadow just doesn't stay on your oily lids, you might wanna try a paint pot by MAC ($16.50). Not only do they apply smoothly and dry quickly, but they can make your eyeshadows so much more vibrant. I prefer them over other types of eye primers, but it's up to you. I still love my UDPP and Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but I reach for my paint pots a lot more. Some of the shades are so pretty you could wear them alone (like Indianwood and Rubenesque), and some really enhance any duochrome shadow you might be wearing. Artifact paint pot looks amazing with Beauty Marked eyeshadow, and Pink Pearl pigment over Delft?? Gorgeous. There are so many things you can do with paint pots, it's not even funny. I don't have every single one, but I have a pretty good variety to start with (and will quietly hunt for the ones I don't have and need). Check out these swatches so you know what they look like on darker skin.
