In case you didn’t know, Urban Decay (in light of the recession) is having their Friends & Family sale and you get to save a cool 30% off your entire order. Use code “1SFNF” from April 6th thru April 19th. I picked up a few things, of course. But let me just say, I absolutely LOVE Urban Decay, overall. I think they’re a very strong brand. Their eyeshadow’s are known for their pigmentation and vibrancy, and they’ve got great packaging. They have some of the most unique packaging I’ve seen as far as makeup goes, and as a designer totally appreciate it. This sale came out of nowhere for me, so I didn’t get as much as I would’ve had I known it was coming. I could’ve been irresponsible and spent money on this sale instead of paying my rent…but looking like a fabulous hobo isn’t exactly a goal of mine.
I’m always looking for a great primer, especially since it’s getting Africa-hot outside. The humidity out here in VA is ridiculous. You can literally stand outside for one minute and start sweating like a hooker in church. It’s really dumb. So I bought their Complexion Primer Potion (a pore perfecting makeup base), one of their new Stardust eyeshadows in Atmosphere, and the De-Slick Mattifying Powder, which is supposed to help keep you from looking like a shiny ball of grease thru-out the day.
Of course, not everything made by Urban Decay is the greatest thing since canned bread. Every cosmetic company falls short of something every now and then. The only thing I purchased that I’m not entirely happy with is the Stardust eyeshadow. Like most (if not all) of Urban Decay’s eyeshadow’s, you can use these wet or dry. I expected to be hit with heavy pigmentation when I got this, but I wasn’t. You know that feeling you get when you get a really hot guy home..you’re excited..but then you learn he has a really small…brain? Yea, that’s what this shadow was for me. Very anti-climactic. I took a dry swatch, and said to myself “Seriously??..this is it?” For $20 a pop, I’m gonna need for these shadows to rival Make Up For Ever’s super pigmented eyeshadow’s, but the sad reality is that this one does not..see for yourself…

Do you guys see how weak that dry swatch is? You almost HAVE to use this shadow wet just to get some decent color payoff. By the way, I used MAC Fix+ to get it wet. Because the color is dry, it doesn’t make it worth it to me. I’m gonna play around with it some more because there is a slight chance that this shadow just has to be “broken in” like a pair of shoes. Let us pray.
Anyway, here are pics of the other two items I bought. I’ll review these later, because I haven’t even tried the De-Slick yet. I do love the compact it comes in though, it’s so pretty and sleek. I will say that after using the Complexion Primer Potion a few times, I do like it so far…but I’ll give you guys details later

my skin color is so deep, i HAVE to use products that are super-pigmented for them to even show up. UD and MUFE have been my go-tos thus far, so there’s nothing like a good sale to get me to try out some things i’ve just been *eyeing* for a while. thanks for the tip!
