After months of saving up, weeks of feverish anticipation, and “Hmmm, should I buy these Louboutin’s instead?”…I buckled down and realized that I’d have way more fun with a super dope camera than a sexy pair of heels I couldn’t sleep, shower, or run in — and for the price, I better be able to do all of these things in those shoes! I’ve always wanted a DSLR, from way back in the day when my friend Anna used to post amazing photos in her flickr account from her sexy little Canon Rebel. I’ve been using Canon’s all my “point-n-shoot” life, and I’ve always loved them and felt a strong sense of loyalty to the brand. I considered Nikon for a second, but realized I’m way more familiar with Canon. I’m one of those people who, when it comes to a big purchase — I like to wait. I wait until a version comes out that SCREAMS at me, and finally in 2010 the Canon EOS 60D ($1399.99 $1266.00) was banging on my window like BUY ME! The articulating screen is really what did it. I have that same kinda screen on my current Powershot A620 and I know first hand how important it is for getting really good shots, and for video.
I took the pics of my new toy with my old toy, the A620 (which I’ll still be using).

I won’t bore you with specs and stuff, but I will say that this is my first DSLR and I have a ton to learn and get used to. This baby is HEAVY! I’m sure I’ll get used to the weight but compared to my A620 (which I used to think was heavy), it’s worlds heavier. The A620 is like carrying around Calista Flockheart, and the EOS 60D is like carrying around Rick Ross. Huge difference in weight and build. I know it’s not as heavy as its big brothers the 7D and the 5D Mark II, respectively.
For now, I’m just using the kit lens…but I already know which two lenses I’m purchasing next! A really good telephoto lens and a macro lens will do quite nicely. Oh, and a speedlite and diffuser…and possibly a Rode mic for videos. I’ll be good on “accessories” after buying all of these. Photography was something I was always interested in, and while you don’t need a $1,000+ camera, I wanted one. And to be honest, this is an early 30th birthday gift to myself
I absolutely love love looooooove this camera, it’s amazing! The depth of field is spectacular, the zoom is great, the clarity and richness of each photo is intense. I love the low-light photos, which is something my A620 was just terrible with. I’m sorry you can’t get the full shebang here but I can’t really post super large pics on the blog so check out my Flickr account. Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve honestly been hella busy and trying to study up on this camera so I can take great HD video tutorials n stuff. I’ll be back to regular updates this week, but for now I gotta go play with my new baby lol
-Stay beautiful

Canons are the best! I just bought one and I am in love with it!!!
agreed! i LOVE Canon!
OMG I love it, it’s so beautiful! I need a new DSLR so bad…but,as you know, those suckers ain’t cheap. It’s times like this I wish I still worked at Best Buy. I have a Rebel XS and I paid $380 for it, which is like..half off or somethin. That discount was BOSS.
I want a 7D SOOO bad….I’m sure you saw the price tag on it. Ouch. -sigh-
the 7D is fierce. I had to settle for a baby 7D though lol u got a great deal on that Rebel. it’s a great camera!
Enjoy your new toy and I’m looking forward to some amazing FOTD/swatch pics!
Thanks love!
$1266?? Damn…no wonder I’m still shooting with a film camera (albeit medium format). But this photog friend of mine told me it was difficult to switch to digital, but he had to do it…
I love film cameras actually
That camera is siiiiick, Resha! OMG—I could see every little detail on that piece of bacon. Damn now I want bacon. Can’t wait to see more pics with your new toy
LMAO!!! i ate the hell outta that bacon too
Your new camera is hot and the sample pics are so crisp and clear. Looking forward to seeing more pics with your new baby.
Girl, you’re making me want to upgrade from my EOS Rebel XT, like RAHT NAH. But you have a great eye for photography. Looking forward to more photos and videos with this baby.
The Rebel was gonna be the camera for me but I saw the swivel screen and..welp, the rest is history
I too am loyal to the Canon brand with my Powershot those pictures are Flicker Are fabulous. I can’t Wait to see the HD video. Well enjoy your new baby
Nice cam for sure…I’m in need of one as well. Dont know which one though.

You can’t go wrong with pretty much any canon!
Wow your photos are amazing. But you’re right – photography is not about expensive cameras. You’re obviously an artist because your previous photos with the A620 were just as good and I could tell you knew your stuff! I know loads of people who buy DSLRs (it’s like an in thing where I come from) but still take crap photos LOL! I’m on the lookout for one myself, and it’ll most probably be the Nikon D90 but your Canon is making me think twice!
Have fun and cant wait to see more wonderful photos!
the Nikon D90 and the Canon Rebel t2i were the cameras i was bouncing back and forth with, but the swivel screen sold me. and thank you!
So crisp and clear, beautiful pictures. Canon cameras are really worth the money.
indeed!
DSLRs have always intimidated me… but those photos are fab! and I’ve seen videos (mostly Nikon) done with DSLR cameras, and it really makes me want to save my pennies.
I can’t wait to see you back on youtube!

Yayyyyy!! Congrats on your new baby.
This only means more FOTD’s will be posted, correct?!
yes ma’am!!
I am not a camera buff like some this ladies, but I always in enjoy your pictures. (Those R&R blush pics are my favorite). It is one of the things that sets you apart from other bloggers. I also took a look at your flickr account, those pics are really gorgeous.
I would still get the Louboutins though….you only turn 30 once.
LMAO do you KNOW how hard it was for me to pass up some Louboutins???? it took me almost a month to decide
whoa..thus a great buy hun..Ur camera is amazing. Cant wait to see more posts with ur new camera
Thanks Sharon!
Niiiice! I’ve been looking around for a super camera myself. You can always tell the difference!
I agree. wait til i get some new lenses, nobody will be able to tell me sh*t!
Congrats on the new camera! Welcome to your new and expensive addiction LOL! It’s amazing how much there is to learn, it’s really a different world.
Looking forward to seeing even more amazing pictures from you!
LOL Thanks love. im still playing with it, i think I’ve found my favorite shooting mode. i gotta get her insured though, i’d be heartbroken if something happened to her
Me..me…me, I want one…lol! Can’t wait for the YT vids…woooohoooo!!
Love Canon, but you will find that it is too big. Takes awesome pictures and video, but it is heavy. I have had several Canon cameras even film cameras, I just love em. Enjoy!
I am officially jealous. I’m happy for you! I am asking for my DSLR for either Christmas or my birthday(January). I have my fingers crossed. I am hoping for the canon Rebel. Your pictures were great.
Cool. The Canon 60D is a good buy. It is much lighter than the 7D or 5D as they are full body frame DSLR’s so they are much much heavier.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to limit yourself to strictly Canon lenses and you can get some great ones from Sigma for much cheaper than the cannon ones.
A better standard lense than the one you currently have is the 50mm, and for that I would go with the Canon model.
Have fun with the camera!
