This is going to be a seriously long, but hopefully helpful post. Clearly, there are tons of people who attempt to buy MAC cosmetics from eBay. This is a mistake. Yea, there are sellers who sell authentic MAC, but that’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Once upon a time, it was actually safer to buy MAC items from eBay…it wasn’t as easy as it is now to buy a total fake. It happened, but not as frequently as it does now. In fact, nowadays you’re 10x’s more likely to purchase a counterfeit item, than a real one. If I could physically show you what’s wrong with the fakes on eBay, I would. But I’m going to try my best to explain to you what to look for. Don’t get me wrong, eBay isn’t the only place to get fake MAC makeup. Sites such as iOffer, Brush111, BombshellBargains (which sells both real and fake items), StrawberryNET, etc. have all been busted for selling inauthentic MAC items. One of the main problems is that it has gotten progressively harder to tell what is fake and what’s real.
Why shouldn’t you buy counterfeit MAC items? Well, it’s simple. You don’t know what kind of ingredients they have chucked into them. You could literally be putting colored baby powder, flour, or crack onto your lids lol. It’s just not safe and it only puts more money into the pockets of the thieves who manufacture and sell this garbage. So, unless you want to support their crime, don’t buy fake cosmetics. This is the same reason I don’t buy those tragic counterfeit handbags from mall kiosks. I cannot support that market, but that’s just me.
The most common counterfeit MAC items are eyeshadows, brushes and pigments. There is word that there are also fake MAC lipsticks, eye and lip pencils, MSF’s, blushes, etc. Speaking of fake MAC brushes, EVERYTHING from www.brush111.com, and www.macmakeupshop.com is absolutely fake.
Here’s an example of a really “good” fake glitter that the untrained eye probably wouldn’t detect. Everything about this jar looks authentic until you take a closer look…

The above is a picture of a fake MAC Grey glitter (this color was once sold by MAC but has been discontinued for a long time and is now a very hard to find item) I received from a seller on Specktra, who thought she was getting the real deal. Before I even received this item, she refunded me and told everyone she sold it to that she found out they were fakes. She was honest and she did not have to tell us that. She could have easily ran off with our money, but she didn’t. She was extremely embarrassed because she happens to know all about fakes..but this just proves my point. The fakes are getting harder and harder to detect, even for seasoned folks. When I got this, the box felt and looked real. But the SECOND I held it, I saw the edges of this glitter and noticed how cheap it felt. Do you see how the edges of the lid look as if they were literally shaved off? You can’t tell from here, but the lid also feels VERY cheap in comparison to a real pigment lid. Real pigment jars don’t have that thick overflowing shaved edge. Real lid jars have FLAT edges on the lids and don’t feel cheap in your hands.

Also, in comparison to my authentic Reflects Pink Glitter, it doesn’t have a batch code. On authentic MAC glitters, the sticker labels on the bottom of the jars have their batch codes stamped into the label, not “printed” like the other pigments. There may be some older glitters with printed batch codes, but the more recent ones have them stamped into the actual sticker, so its clear when you look at it. One more thing, the actual glitter texture is way chunkier than it should be. MAC glitters are very fine and don’t feel scratchy at all. This fake Grey glitter is super chunky, pretty, but very chunky and not fine at all. It also sticks to the sides of the jar way more than an authentic glitter would.
Overall, this glitter looks authentic, but it’s not.
You guys HAVE to do your homework and shop a little more consciously. A lot of these eBay sellers will tell you “Oh my, I didn’t know it was fake”. If you even dare open a business selling a product you know nothing about, then you are failing at life. It’s extremely irresponsible to sell items you know nothing about to the public all while promising authenticity. Many people who sell hoards of these fake items pretty much try to see what’s selling like hotcakes on eBay, and jump in on the action and get paid by the ignorance and trust of their customers. When you call them out on it, they ALL send a similar message of ..
“I assure you my items are authentic as I receive them from a reliable supplier. If a questionable item was overlooked, please feel free to return to me for a full refund and I’ll be more careful next time”
This is what we in America call “bullshit”. Please be careful, and do not fall for that excuse. While it’s true that some sellers just have no idea, again, its irresponsible to put yourself in that situation. Know what you’re selling!
AUTHENTIC MAC ISN’T SOLD AT:
- Flea markets
- Grocery stores
- Beauty supply stores
- Salons
- mall kiosks
TIME TO CALL OUT SOME EBAY SELLERS!
I took some screenshots of fake items on eBay so you can see first hand what they look like and also who the sellers are so you can avoid them. The sad thing is that some of these have tons of bidders and the seller is about to make off with some unsuspecting makeup lover’s money. The even sadder part, is that many of these sellers are “verified/top-rated/trusted sellers” who have tons of great feedback…and all of that feedback is from unsuspecting and naive buyers.
Click each pic to see a larger version

1. A so called, 12 color eyeshadow cream palette. MAC NEVER made a product like this. If you see something like this on eBay, avoid it.

2. MAC has never ever in life put out a 120 color palette. These palettes are manufactured in Asian countries and sold wholesale to lots of companies in the USA. Often packaged in an all-black case, which basically gives just about anyone the leg room to put whatever kind of logo they want. Do not fall for this very popular fake MAC item. What’s sad is that this seller is trying to convince people it’s a “pro” item, and look at how many bids were on this crap!

3. This is just hilarious. MAC never made a cheap looking palette like this for their Hello Kitty collection. This is an obvious fake. There were only two 4-color eyeshadow palettes from that collection; Too Dolly and Lucky Tom.

4. To put it bluntly, this listing is total bullshit. MAC has never released a Hello Kitty mascara or eyeliner. You can buy this if you want to, but don’t be mad if you wake up the next morning blind as hell.

5. See above lol. MAC has never released SINGLE Hello Kitty eyeshadows in special packaging. You can find the colors from either the Too Dolly or Lucky Tom palettes in single shadow form, but they were not in special packaging. Therefore this entire lot is total crap.

6. Pink Swoon was never part of any Kim Kardashian “collection”. There never was a Kim Kardashian collection to begin with. Pink Swoon also doesn’t have any “shimmer” and most importantly, it’s NOT limited edition. The only limited edition Pink Swoon blush was in the Manish Arora packaging.

7. Goldmine is an eyeshadow color from MAC. There was never a “Goldmine” pigment. This is not only a fake, but a really bad one. Look at the shiny lid on the jar, the crappy quality of the box and the font on the sticker. The MAC logo on the jar is further up than normal. This is just terrible. Some of these fakes are so bad you just have to laugh.

8. Once again, another horrible fake MAC pigment for sale. Humid is an eyeshadow, NOT a pigment. Never has been. MAC pigments do not have black labels on the bottom of their jars. This is one of those terrible fakes that doesn’t even have a fake MAC batch code on the sticker. Wow, the audacity…
9. Where do I begin? First of all, single MAC eyeshadow pots DO NOT have a “basement” that houses brushes or brush-tip applicators with a mirror. The only shadow I know that fits this description off the top of my head is L’Oreal HIP Duos. If you own any “MAC” eyeshadows that have a second compartment for a mirror/brush underneath, you’ve gotta fake. The only shadows that come with mirrors and/or mini brushes are the holiday/limited edition sets, but those also come with at least six eyeshadow colors.

10. Bottom line: authentic MAC eyeshadow pans have a FLAT bottom. If you have any MAC shadows with a beveled circle, you’ve gotta fake.

11. Haha, this seller couldn’t even think of what to call this super fake Heatherette lipglass, so they just called it #02. There was never a #02 lipglass from MAC’s Heatherette collection. Today’s lesson: if there’s no name for the item color and it just has a number, its fake. The only “numbering” system MAC used for lip products was for the N collection…1N, 2N, 3N, 4N and 5N.

12. The ever popular MAC pigment lot sale!! Where you can enjoy so many fake pigments for such an awesome deal! Lak OMG kewliez y0! Every single listing like this, is fake. Every. Single. One. Don’t fall for it.

13. Super fake Primary Yellow pigment. Do you guys see how THICK this jar is? This is a number 1 visual indication that it’s fake. I’m sure there’s a shiny black lid to boot. Check out the barcode on the bottom of the box. See the batch code A73? Real MAC pigments do not have the batch codes on the box, only on the sticker label of the actual pigment jar. I’ll get into batch codes later, but for now, make sure none of the boxes you’ve purchased have a batch code on the barcode sticker…because if it does, its fake. If your jars are as thick as that one, its fake.

14. Here’s an example of a “shiny lid”. This lid looks super oily right? Real MAC pigments have a more matte lid, and any light reflected from the real ones will be very dull. There ARE fake pigments w/ matte lids, but the very edges look like someone shaved them along the sides, so you can easily tell its fake. They feel very cheap in your hands. Authentic MAC pigment lids are sturdier and have a slight texture to them.

15. Do you guys see what’s fake here? Look closer…do you notice how the rim around the actual shadow is raised? This is fraudulent! Real MAC eyeshadow cases do NOT have a raised edges like this.
I could go on and on, but you should get a general idea.
Now let’s talk about batch codes. MAC pigments (and other products) have a 3-character code on the bottom of the labels to let you know three things: which batch run it is, and the month and year of when it was packaged.

MAC has reformulated many of their pigments, which is why “batch runs” can vary. I have the second formula of their Golden Olive pigment, for example. The code on that jar is BC6, which means it’s the second batch run (B), made and packaged in December (C) of 2006 (6). Get it?
MAC has also started using the digit “0″ for their batch codes to represent 2010. I purchased an eyeshadow from the MAC counter at Macy’s recently and it had a batch code of “A10″.
I hope this post was helpful to some of you. To be honest, because MAC isn’t a “high-end” brand, your best bet would be to save up your money and buy directly from them, to avoid getting duped. If you have any questions, leave a comment below.

I read this entire post! Ha! This is craaaaazy!!! There has to be a way to get this stuff off ebay!
you can. if you “report seller” or something like that, you can report the listing and get it taken off ebay
that dressed up 120 color palette amuses me EVERYTIME lmao!!! bottom line, if you’re not sure, go to maccosmetics.com!!! unless it’s a special/limited edition product that’s temporarily on the website, every mac item should be listed. NGL, i almost fell for the 54 color pigment lot on ioffer lol.
LOL!! I know right??? Not only do sellers need to know what they’re selling, but buyers need to be smarter about what they’re buying. simply putting a BMW logo on a Pinto doesn’t make it a BMW LOL
This is AWESOME info! Thank you so much for sharing. I had a friend who was the victim of this. She swore by it until she received some botched mess in the mail. For that reason, I’ve always purchased my makeup directly from MAC. I’on trust the ‘nets! LOL!
I’m addicted to the website already. *bookmarked*
You’re so welcome and i’m glad you’re enjoying the place so far
i have tons of stuff coming!
and yea u really should just try to buy your mac from either the store, the website or a cco. period LOL.
I wish I had known this a couple of months ago! I experienced buyin this junk firs hand via ebay but i did dispute all my purchases and got my money back!
its a good thing you got your money back. sooo many people dont because they just dont know how to prove its fake
I agree, there is SO much fake MAC on eBay. It’s all about doing your research. I have purchased MAC from eBay maybe 5 times and have gotten authentic products. I will only deal with certain sellers period. It’s the last option I consider if I can’t find a product through other means.

Resha,
Thanks so much for all of this info. I only buy MAC from MAC stores or CCO’s but I’ll definitely pass this info. on to my girls who stay on the hunt for discount MAC products!
i didnt start buying mac til mid 2008 so i missed out on some of the collections including the h ello kitty line . So i thought i could find some stuff on ebay but its so obvious what is fake and not .
a ton of stuff is very obvious, but a lot of it isnt. so many sellers take shitty pictures of their items and its hard for the buyer to see every detail. this is why people have to know what they’re buying.
This is a really good article i would say the only way to be sure if its authentic is just to buy straight from a mac counter or online . Oh CCO too love that store .
agreed! if its not a MAC store, counter or CCO…you might wanna skip it lol
Aughhh it upsets me everytime I see fake MAC on eBay, especially because so much of them are obvious fakes, and the people bidding hundreds of dollars haven’t even done their research before bidding. I just think if you wanted MAC products (or any other brand) you’d know a bit about the brand/s, collections etc before bidding hundreds of dollars online! Especially all the fake brush sets on eBay annoy me!
great post!! really hope a few naive people stumble across this and learn!
xx
aughh.. i wish more people would see our naming and shaming!
yup, its really sad. i hope everyone shares this post with a fellow MAC lover or makeup newbie so they can learn the ins and outs of fake makeup products
your blog is so helpful. I wanted to thank you for putting the time and effort.
Thanks
Tracey
thank YOU! im glad you enjoy it <3
Why do the pigments look like colored baby powder? lol
it probably is! LOL
MAC is too dear in Australia so i have bought from Ebay. From what i can tell its the real deal. I’ll be sticking to the same 2 sellers ive bought from though i think.
ETA one of the sellers is pinkdaisygirl..did some research looking for authentic sellers and her ebay shop came up as authentic. Just thought id post if anyone is looking for online sellers.
Good idea. I should compile a list of sellers who are safe to buy from!
yeah I use her aswell, she’s always been great to me and everythings been authentic!
Yea if you find sellers who sell authentic MAC, never stray lol! There’s a seller I’ve had awesome buying experience from for years, her store is something like Fran–something something, I forget her exact store name, but she’s incredible.
oh wow!!! I’m glad this is here I almost made this mistake. I just knew I hit the jackpot O_o wrong. lol thanks! I’m gonna have to post your site on fb to all my makeup ladies.
so wait if the batch codes come on the box its fake? im confused cus i bought it straight from Nordstrom and mine has the code on the box and and the jar…i have two eye shadows…
When did you buy it?
also, eye shadows and pigments are different. pigments dont come with the batch code on them, eyeshadows and other products do.
This rocks, Resha. I used to be able to find palettes on ebay for cheap – wayyy back before they started faking like this – but the more I saw the fakes, the more the price for the REAL stuff started to go up. As often as MAC provides free shipping now, it’s practically cheaper to order from the real MAC site, now. AND avoid the trouble. LOL
Thanks hun! I agree, MAC isn’t the most expensive brand so ppl should definitely save up for it and just buy it from them directly to avoid all this crap!

Hi, thanks so much for the helpful information. I cannot believe there are so much people out there that are willing to buy counterfeit products. I never bought fake products intentionally and if I think something’s way expensive for my budget, I’ll go try a cheaper brand not the fake one! Anyways, at the beginning of the post, you also mentioned that Strawberrynet has been selling fake MAC products before, can you give some extra information about that cause I’m really freaking out? I shop from there a lot but I never bought MAC from there but I may consider it later.. Thanks so much!
yea on specktra, there were soo many people saying they’ve received a fake eyeshadow from strawberrynet, but that her other items were authentic. if i hear things like that, i avoid the site altogether. just be careful.
Glad you posted this. I was going to do a post but now I don’t have to.
It is sad that these sellers make it hard for legit sellers to sell their products. Reason people have to do blog sales…. I went to ebay recently just to see what was listed and 9/10 listings are fake. Too bad some people don’t care and don’t know what they are really buying (ingredient wise). I stick to MAC and the CCO if I want the real thing. Plus at the CCO you get a better deal than ebay if you have a CCO near by.
Wow, you really know your MAC! Lol
LOL!! Even before my affair with mac I always researched!! We need to be more aware as consumers as well, that way these fakers won’t have a market! But I can’t but laugh at the ridiculous fakey fakes…lol!!
[...] I hope this helps you guys out, and puts you at ease. Yes, a sad majority of MAC cosmetics being sold on Ebay are fraudulent as hell, but there are a few honest sellers you can absolutely trust. If you haven’t already, check out my post about how to spot fake MAC cosmetics. [...]
That was a great post! Very informative and the very reason I only get my products from stores or people I trust…who wants to have to wonder if they’re makeup is fake….
wow umm…i definitely purchased one or two of those things like 2days ago…im glad ebay has a buyer protection program. i want my dam money back!!!
very long post but so so so worth every sec reading! =)
well wot can i say? omg! this is just sooooooooooooooooo VERY VERY VERY helpful. lol. i’m from Philippines. =)
been thinking if i should just order online for some mac products that I’ve been really wanting so bad. cuz here in our country is not like there in US, that u guys have so many MAC stores to go shop at unlike here there’s only a few MAC stores. but yea no need to think twice! won’t even spare a single cent for fakes!! economy now is so down that u don’t wanna be fooled by people like that selling fake mac products! SHAME ON THEM! :l
Wow! Thank you so much for this! I’ve seen fakes before, but this is the most detailed outline I’ve ever found. Good job, miss
thanks! and you’re welcome
That was brillant! Recently I went to a swapmeet not that long ago and some dumb-nuts were selling some at a stand. I was hesitant at first till I really took a look and relized how fake it looked. lol. Damn I feel sorry for the woman who got scammed wanting a good deal. Like you mentioned MAC is not far fetched and that expensive- people just save and go to a legit counter! No matter how good the deal is online or at a flea market- avoid at all costs.
great post,Resha..I always go to Mac counters buy my foundation n stuff in person but I happen to wander thru ebay a few days ago and see Mac lipgloss for so cheap, with just a number and I thought why is it so cheap..I decided to ask the seller what shade and more details but got no response,I just somehow suspected that it was very fake..thank goodness I didnt add that to my genuine mac items. Thank you for this post
I recently went to Thailand, and mac was everywhere in the markets. How do you know if it’s real?
i have a question, what if it smells a little like baby powder? lol.
it shouldnt. its most likely fake. MAC items generally don’t have a scent. their lip products should smell like vanilla.
My bad lol i meant their eyeshadows.
Hi thanks for the tips.
Quick question have you ever hears of machotsell.com the name to me sounds like a super fake site. Let me know what you think!
Thanks for sharing.thankGod I did not buy anything from ebay as yet..I was thinkin of buying a brush set, but after reading your article, dnt know what to think more…
Thanks so much!!
I can’t believe I found this! I had just found 3 websites (macmakeupwholesale.com, Qwholesale.com, and allcosmeticswholesale.com) I was about to purchase close to $200 worth of M.A.C, Benefit, and Dolce and Gabbana makeup and then I saw this. I am pretty sure now that all three sites are fake. (It would be cool if you could check just in case since you are the expert and all
I thought I had hit the jackpot, but instead I almost got…well…jacked.
Allcosmeticswholesale is a legitimate seller. They buy their items from closeout stores and the CCO.
allcosmetics is authentic, u dont have to worry there.
WOW thanks for the info got me thinking i buy mac off ebay all the time i know it’s fake but love the deal and the fun of bidding on ebay. i have used real mac and fake mac it’s really about the same. i see you really put a lot into this but you did not talk about how a lot of people selling want you to know it not real. People are crazy i reading the post really get a boyfriend with out makeup first.
So if the item says it was made in Canada, does that make it non-authentic as well?
Depends on what it is, their pigments (a huge majority) of them are made in Canada…what do you have?
Great post! I wish I did my research a lot earlier than being added to the list of someone who got scammed… and it happened to me on ebay.
It was a listing for 50 MAC refill eye shadows, they stated that they were authentic and even had pictures of the packaging and pictures of the magnet with the eye shadow name and information that is placed underneath the shadow to keep it in place in the palette container. So, I thought for sure that this could be legit because of how much I paid… well over $200… I thought it was a makeup artist just trying to get rid of their overstocked eye shadow. If I would have paid at the actually MAC store, which I will now do for the rest of my life, I would have paid over $550 for those items and makeup artist get a 40-50% discount so it just further justified my reason for bidding, because of their discount. Plus, I know people that sell items for dirt cheap, it goes with the statement… you get what you pay for. So, with bidding in $290 range, I would of for sure thought it would be AUTHENTIC. (though, I did not end up paying that amount because I was given a second chance offer… i should of sticked with my gut… if they other person ended up declining to pay for the item… so should have I)
But when I received the package, I was initially excited because it came in original MAC packaging, which I compared to my store bought refill eye shadows that was unopened and everything seemed to match up until I noticed a lot of color differences so I went through my collection of store bought eye shadows and compare my Humid eye shadow and the one ‘Humid’ on ebay and immediately noticed a color difference between the two. Then I tried both on my wrist to compare the quality, which just baffled me. The ebay one was clearly a fake, which added no color, only shimmer, to my wrist, which was suppose to be a deep green like the real one and came off within seconds (CHEAP). THEN… what further supported my suspicion of the eye shadows of being fake was that the ‘name’ of the eye shadow was not on a magnet but a piece of small round cloth that wasn’t even attached to the bottom of the refill bottom. I thought it was strange that it wasn’t attached, like it fell off and lost the glue quality but then opened ten more and they all had detached labels, which was even more strange (and therefore was not just a coincidence). Then it hit me that the seller had obtained original packaging and information about the product and attempted to use labels and boxes to make a fake eye shadow pan look real. Of course I confronted them, which they thought I was crazy for thinking such an ‘absurd’ thing, but thank GOD that I got my money back, but I now have to ship them back to the seller so now others might become victims to this fraud… so please, if you are on ebay avoid bidding to seller… henry24740.
I definitely learned my lesson and will NEVER try to say a buck on my MAC products, especially since these were suppose to be gifts. I just don’t want anyone to be confronted with what I had to go through with this person.
So, maybe you can add this to your list on how scammers are getting trying to get away with selling fake eye shadow refills for palettes.
Thank you for the informative post! I’d love to know if you knew anything about the current Venomous Villains collection, if there are fakes and how to spot them. I’m kicking myself for not buying the Dark Deeds lipstick, which by now is sold out. Supposedly people would haul real stuff and sell in in the Ebay with profit, but I’m really frightened to buy anything from there.
Thank you for the info provided about fake MAC, unfortunately it was too late for me. I purchased $95 worth of shadows in a palette, 2 brushes, a bag and 2 pigments from a lady that has a shop named Diva House set up in Houston, TX. Please ladies do your homework. I am in the process of trying to get my money back and have been nice about it so far. Stay tuned!
FYI….I got my money back!!!
you are absolutely amazing!
the funny thing is, the reason why i googled
“ways to spot fake mac makeup” is because i have a few questionable pigments, that i purchased from Ebay a while ago. now, i know purchasing ANYTHING from ebay will raise eyebrows because you really dont know what you’re receiving from these people.
so anyway, i kind of purchased the MAC items out of curiousity. in my mind i know there was a 50/50 chance that id receive fraud items, but i just wanted to see.
so i received the items and off back, i sensed that i purchased fake items. even when asking the sellers if its real, they claim either ‘yes’ or they claim they got it else where so they arent sure.
i have a few authentic mac items that i got from the stores or makeup artist friends. so i compare the ebay crap with the real and you can tell! even without comparing the items, i was still able to tell.
im keen on detail. for example, the font on the box. the font on the box looks so generic and cheesy. BUT to a person that doesnt own any MAC cosmetics, they wouldnt know the difference. but sometimes you can just tell.
also, the containers on the fake mac pigments, feel very cheesy in my hands. the writing on the back of the pigments, were either smudged, crooked or too light too read. im like yeaaaaa this is fake.
its crazy because they have fake mac everything! fake pigments, eye shadows, lipglosses and more.
there are even people in the streets claiming to have a connect with MAC and they are selling the products “5 for $25″ making people think they boosted the real products from a MAC store…(even though thats bad) but still, you think you’re receiving the real thing and they too are selling knock offs. so people need to just be careful.
the sad thing is, there are some very pretty colors in the fake MAC, BUT you have NO idea how or where it was made, so it could be a possibility that it’ll break you out!
anyway, enough of my rambling. all i know is, after all this fake sh*t going around, makes me scared to buy ANY type of MAC anywhere but the MAC Store!.
thanks so much for this article.
there are wayyyy too many clowns out here selling fake stuff .
You write: “Real MAC pigments do not have the batch codes on the box, only on the sticker label of the actual pigment jar.” in your article. I didn’t know this. Does it still apply?
Hi, I just wanted to comment on this statement you made…”Real MAC pigments do not have the batch codes on the box, only on the sticker label of the actual pigment jar.”
That is actually not true. I have 9 MAC PRO pigments that were all purchased directly from MAC PRO that ALL have the batch code on the bottom barcode sticker as well as on the bottom of the jar. Here is the list…
- Antique Green – A68
- Electric Coral – B18
- Vintage Gold – C28
- Rock-It Yellow – A38
- Kelly Green – A18
- Ruby Red – A39
- Acid Orange – B18
- Museum Bronze – A48
- Landscape Green – A78
Since they were all bought directly from MAC it is not possible that they are fakes. You may want to revise that part of your posting as it is not correct. I am not sure if all of the PRO pigments are like this but the 9 that I have are! The batch codes are from 2008 & 2009 so they are not all that old either. Thought you should know.
Thanks!
Great post… but how isn’t MAC high-end? It’s very expensive and good quality, the rest of us call that high-end.
MAC is extremely cheap compared to high-end brands such as Chanel, Dior and YSL
Very useful. However I would need some help to identify whether the MAC fafi Make Up Palette I got for a present is a genuine one. I cannot find it in any shop at the moment or on online in order to compare it. How can I verify it? Thanks
You said Allcosmetics was legit but i was just on their site and they have the black stickers on them and shiny lids like you said was counterfeit so I am confused?
black stickers where exactly? show me a link?
Can you please help me verify MAC fafi Make Up Palette I got for a present is a genuine one. What do I need to look at in order to know that its genuine?

Thanks for the post, a lady friend at my school friend sells fake mac and when she said 82 mac pallete i knew it wasnt the biz i also saw a friend who bought a single eye shadow which was white shost i guess it was suppose to be white frost cause it was a white eyeshadow i couldnt bring my self to call her out i just said i will pass i’ll keep going to the mac counter and depend on my wet n wild, and nyx and loreal hip for my cheaper brands dont want to wake up one moring with big problems: )
I was just about to spend $100. On the e bay Mac palette, thank you! You saved another make up fans hard earned make up money! Another tip off was super Mac palettes being sold on ebay for $20.00 with a seller how has no rating!!!
Thank you for this very informative and highly amusing post. I use Mac and have nieces in their tweens who are starting to use make-up so your post is very helpful. Those who refuse to pay Mac prices and resort to “fake eBay Macs” should realize that they are better off with reputable drug store brands. At least, the ingredients are listed so they know what they’re putting on your face.
I bought some Mac pigments off eBay but. Wish I would have read this article first. One I bought said pink branze !!! Not even bronze!! Lol… It had a black label on the jar. The seller says no refunds unless product is grossly misrepresented !! Which it is, it’s not even MAC. There are a few sellers who actually show you a pic of the sticker on the jar so I guess that’s how you can tell. I’m sticking to the Mac store and website now!! And what kills me is I paid with shipping 18$ for pink branze.. Lol… I could have paid 19.50 for the real thing at the store!!! I can’t believe they charge Mac prices for fakes!! My fault too but their fault for not reading up on their product they are selling!!
i bought one of the fake hello kitty eye shadows and the second i got it in the mail i knew it was fake because of the little mirror compartment. so i asked the girl for my money back telling her that i believe the product is a fake and no where in her description does it say that and her reply was “Not fake just made in other countries. They are sold to ME as MAC so I sell them as MAC”
file a dispute
I just looked at the MAC website and it looks like the wonderwoman collection of eyeshadows as mirrors and applicators in the picture. Do you see this as well?

Thank you
no applicators in the compacts, just mirrors
OMG! i feel like crying.. i just bought the “120 palette” off this “macwholesale” website along with $160 purchase. when i received the box, i said it was from china (thats when i knew something was up). I opened it and realized it was very poorly made!!! Very light & not like authentic mac makeup.. There were spaces between the plastic edge and the powder with the compact, the brushes didnt feel full or soft.. I had to research these products… IM SO VERY FRUSTRATED! ughhhhh! on top of that, i went back to the site & it closed down, so i went to the shipping site & its all in CHINESE!!! WTF! never again! i think im just going to buy directly from a brick and motar store:(
how can you tell if a studio fix foundation is fake? PLEASE!
now that, i honestly am not too sure because i don’t really use mac foundations so i’m not an expert in that area, im sorry
