I’ve been meaning to take a gander at the new MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Creams ($22 – 6g) for a while now, and finally got around to it. Boy, am I glad I did! They look like juicy pieces of candy melted down into a creamy, smooth, vibrant sip of cosmetic juice. Yea, seriously. I picked up five for now, but I’m definitely going back for more. When I checked my tracking number on UPS, I squealed with excitement knowing my gorgeous brown box was at home waiting for me
Check it out…
WHAT ARE AQUA CREAMS AND WHAT DO THEY DO?
They’re an ultra-pigmented, long-lasting waterproof cream.
Aqua Cream combines the highest-quality pigments with mother of pearl particles to give immediate rich color payoff with a luminous finish in just one application. It’s long-lasting formulation will not crease or smudge under the most extreme conditions and its creamy and elastic texture allows for easy blending.
Shades #5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are formulated for the Lips & Cheeks.
Shades #1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, and 22 are formulated for the Eyes & Cheeks.
They come in 6gram twist-off cap jars, and because the pigmentation is so riDONKulous, you only need a smidgen. You could either use the eye creams alone, or as bases. I haven’t tried them as bases yet, but I’m sure they’re fabulous. One of the ingredients found in this product is silica, and silica can help prevent your oily lid situation from ruining your entire look. It can absorb oil somethin’ fierce! Silica doesn’t work for everyone, though…

In a sad attempt to remove these with a wet makeup remover wipe…I wiped hard as hell the first time. They didn’t budge much. Then I had to man up and rub the crap outta my arm to remove these. They’re not the easiest to remove. Perhaps using an oil-based makeup remover will help break up the product a little.
Consider this though: these are swatches…you wouldn’t apply this much of the product to your eye or cheek area, so it may be easier to remove since you’d just be using a little. For these swatches though, it took a lil muscle to remove.

wiped away with several super firm strokes…

wiped away even harder…at this point, I kinda had to dig
but I got most of it off.
So here’s the deet’s…I’m not gonna give these a full review because I’ve only had them for a day. But these are gorgeous. There are different colors for different areas of the face and body. I picked up three of the eye/cheek colors and two of the lip/cheek colors. I’ve been wearing the Coral shade for a few hours now, and it hasn’t tightened my cheek or dried it out (which was honestly what I feared it would do) whatsoever. My natural oils are able to subtly come thru and keep it nice and natural. The color hasn’t faded at all, I’m very pleased. They dry very fast so make sure whatever your using these for, you do it quickly because they will not budge.
They make beautiful lip colors! But they actually feel like an ordinary matte formula on the lips — not very moisturizing. Make sure you lube your lips up prior to application so your lips don’t dry out like Ashy Larry’s feet. You’ll love the results, though!
I cannot wait to purchase a few more colors — I NEED that silver color like yesterday! Have you tried any?
Availability: Sephora

I really love the color payoff. After, reading about your hard attempt to get these off I’m not sure if I want them anymore lol. Would you use these as bases?
i definitely would try these as bases and as eyeshadows on their own. they are hard to remove but this can be a good thing for someone with oily lids or someone who sweats and perspires a lot. they’re not impossible to remove, just not super easy. one wipe of a wet makeup remover aint gonna cut it. u kinda have to use an oil-based product to remove it. also keep in mind that those were heavy swatches, you wouldnt put that much product on your lid or face
I can’t lie….I was waiting for you to blog about this. I had to get another woc’s perspective before I drop stacks on more makeup lol
what’s a woc? *forgive my ignorance pls, makeup newbie*
woc = wome/an of color
LOL!
These look so amazing, I would love to give ‘em a try! Thanks a lot, will definitely check them out!
yes they are! i wore Coral on my cheeks the other day and it lasted all day. i was very pleased.
Those colors are gorgeous!
they’re beautiful, i definitely want more
I purchased the “Aqua Essential Kit” from Sephora. It came with #13 warm beige & # 15 taupe Aqua Cremes, 2 aqUa eye peNCILS, 1 AQUA LIP PENCIL,mascara & makeup remover.. You are so right about it being so difficult to remove whiCh is a good thing for my “Crisco/Church’s Chicken lids!! Intially I intended to use as a base but I followed the tutorial that comes with the kit and used it alone. LOVE it to pieces!!! Awesome pigmentation and they will last a long time since a very little goes a long way as with many of their other products.. I’m definately looking to see what colors I will be “purching” next…
BTW what type of camera do you use?? you take awesome photo’s & have good pics of your swatches… I ‘preciate that..
I sent you an FB friend request… Erin Bowden
LMAO churchs chicken lids. i cannot! LMAO!! but you’re right, it being hard to remove is a good thing! just means it lasts longer. i use a Canon A620, its pretty old but I absolutely love it!
wooooooooooooow that looks so gorgeous tho! i cant wait to see it on ur face!
they are beautiful, i’ll be posting a FOTD very soon
hi,
i was wondering if it will be at all possible, for you to do a drew Barrymore inspired makeup tutorial? i saw the ad she did for covergirl smokey shadow blast (the one she used was purple plum), and i really liked it. However i didn’t at all like the product. therefore, i was hoping that perhaps you can recreate a similar look to the one she had, using mac products?
a picture of the ad can be found here :http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh283/madamkelly/fashion/fahion%202/2cx8co5-1.jpg
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
thats a beautiful look, i will definitely take a stab at it.
Oh, thank you so much! I can’t wait to see!
I tried the Lilac color under MAC Violet pigment the other day and it came out really nice. The lilac lightened it up a bit and added some shimmer underneath it. It lasted all day on my lids (no creases) which can be a bit oily and it came off easily with my makeup wipe.
My sephora has a 25% off all exclusive brands so I went and purchased some MUFE products and when I saw these I immediately thought of your post..I bought # 1,5 and 19 and yesss are these babies hard to remove or what, which I actually kinda like cause it shows that it does what it say it does and that is being longlasting..I cant wait to play with them.
I also bought the Aqua Blast waterproof mascara or whatever it’s called – although I actually prefer drugstore mascaras- I’ll see how it works for me
Girrrrllll, “shut the front door!!!” 25% off??? How long ago was this?
Lol I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands though so I dont know if its useful for you but its still going on,the promotion is stayin for 2 or 3 more weeks I believe
I picked up 3 at IMATS but I really am not sure how to work with them. I tried as a shadow base but didn’t really care of the final look. I will have to experiment a bit more.
are they easy to blend? for example the #09 for the cheeks?
