Now that you know the differences and similarities of eyeshadow primers and bases, let’s review this LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer ($20) and put it to the test. Check out what happens!
I purchased this tube a few weeks ago and have used it several times since, and so far I really like it. Here’s a description of this primer straight from Sephora:
What it is:

- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates
- GMOsWhat else you need to know:
This product was developed for use with LORAC eyeshadow products and packaged in a slant tip tube, which allows for a sanitary, finger-friendly application that allows you to control the amount of product being dispensed.

- Not a con for me, but some may view this as “expensive”
OVERALL
This is an awesome primer. You get a great amount of product for the price, 0.53 oz/15.3 grams for $20, compared to Too Faced Shadow Insurance’s 0.35 oz/ 11 grams for $18 (and their price seems to keep creeping up every year). I love that it’s effective without parabens and all those other lil cosmetic ingredients we can all live without. I get beautiful pigmentation out of my shadows with this primer and it lasts a very long time, yet its easy to remove. I really love this one more than UDPP and TFSI, and despite both of those now being in tubes…I’m in no hurry to buy them after using LORAC. This baby here gives me everything I need in a primer (and base). It evens out the skin-tone on my eyelids so that my eyeshadow doesn’t fight against the color of my lids and end up looking altered and strange. I’ve found that everything this primer promises, it delivers. It’s got pretty high ratings on Sephora for a reason! If you’ve tried UDPP or TFSI and found that they haven’t really helped, try this one. It may work better for you — try getting a sample if you can
RATING

Availability: Sephora

How do you blend in the primer, with your hand or a brush.
You can use your fingers or a brush. I prefer my fingers so that the product doesn’t soak into my brush, then i’d be wasting it
Oooh so glad I’m not the only one with this primer!!.. it’s really good! I don’t even reach for UDPP and most likely won’t buy it again… I’ll stick with my ELF, LORAC, & TF primers.
oh yea i totally dont plan on using my TFSI (except for swatches) and to hell with my dried out UDPP lol!
I want to try this!! =) Thanks for the review!
you’re welcome hun
Ok now, I have to buy this primer too. I just purchased UD primer in Eden (the tinted one) to see if it would even out my lids. I will have to buy this when I go back to Sephora or Ulta. Thanks again!
I wanna try Eden too, i cant even lie. its such a pretty color. This LORAC primer is awesome though, not much of a scent, no parabens, love it!
i bought the face primer and eyeshadow primer during the LORAC sale on Hautelook. haven’t had a chance to try them out yet, but this review tells me i made a good choice. gonna try them both out this week.
yea i got this during the Hautelook sale too
i looove it!
I was actually looking for this eye primer but couldn’t remember the name. I saw the Sephora Perfecting Eye Primer and the packaging looks SO similar. Has anyone tried the sephora primer?
I haven’t tried the Sephora one, but I am very very happy with this LORAC one, it’s fabulous!
I might have to try this one..I have not found UDPP or Too faced to work the best for me. I always fill I need something “thicker”. I always just use my paintpots for a base and skip primer..
what exactly do you have problems with? creasing, color fading?
My biggest probs are creasing..With the UDPP and Too faced they seem too ‘thin’ and light. More so the too faced. So I maybe I need to try the Lorac..I was also thinking of trying Kat Von D’s primer..idk lol
I work for LORAC and totally recommend this primer to my clients
I’m going to buy this when my UDPP runs out. I like that Lorac’s primer is in a squeeze tube because my UDPP broke when I dropped it on the floor. I had to cut it and put the product in a jar.
i have NEVER seen anyone review this and i’m so happy someone has!! this is my favorite eyeshadow primer ever
