I remember when I was little and I heard someone say they were wearing a lipstick by Bobbi Brown, and I immediately blurted out “Dude from New Edition has makeup?” SMH. I was quickly corrected lol. Hell, I was like 12 years old and didn’t know jack cheese about makeup, sue me
Bobbi Brown has released a limited edition Shimmering Gloss Palette ($40) that should suit you subtle ladies pretty well, because it’s sheer drama — literally. I understand that not everyone likes bright, bold colors and sometimes even I like to tone it down and just allow my natural features to shine thru with a tiny bit of help. These colors are beautifully sheer and add just a bit of something special without being too crazy. I find it to be a very soft and feminine approach palette.
WHO SHOULD USE THIS?
If you like subtle shimmer with your sheer gloss, then this palette is right up your alley. This would also look good on a makeup-shy teen, a wear-to-work look, or even a blushing bride
A great lip palette for those who do not like a lot of color on their lips. Perfect for brides!
WHO SHOULD’NT USE THIS?
If you’re only into bright bold glosses no matter what, then skip this because you’ll be pissed lol.
Six gorgeous Shimmer Lip Gloss shades – all in one sleek palette that are wearable at any age. These shades can be worn alone or layered over Lip Color. Includes a Mini Lip Brush for mess-free application.

l-r: Bellini, Papaya, Orchid, Posey

l-r: Orchid, Posey, Grape, Berry
The shades are very sheer and would look best over a lipstick, but are just as pretty alone for that slight nude sparkle. If you have really pigmented lips all of the colors may end up looking the same on you.
OVERALL
This palette really nice, but it isn’t for everyone. As I said before, if you’re into opaque glosses, this is not the palette for you. However, if you’re one of those ladies (or gents) who like a beautiful barely there color with a lil shimmer, then this may be your thing. So many ladies love and adore this palette — so that just goes to show not everybody is into “HAYBOO!!” kinda colors lol. I didn’t find these to be drying on my lips at all, so that’s a great thing. This is a great item for a makeup artist to have in their kit, especially for bridal makeup.
As far as the texture goes, these feel moisturizing on the lips — kinda like a balm. They have a relatively normal stickiness to them, but they’re not goopy or heavy at all. The lip brush that is included makes application easier and cleaner so you don’t have to dig your fingers in it. The sparkles aren’t chunky and irritating — you won’t even feel them (at least I didn’t).

Can you please explain what swatching means, I hate to sound so dumb, but I am really lost to the terminology.
Hi Manda,
Swatches are just quick lil color examples of any given product…could be paint, could be makeup, could be anything. It just shows you what the color of something looks like. HTH
*SIGHS* Oh gosh… My relationship with Bobbi Brown can be compared to the relationship of a man with his wife who has gained ridiculous amounts of weight and is far from attractive… they’re about to do their thing and he can’t get an erection because… he’s just NOT into her! LOL. That’s exactly how I feel. I can’t get excited with their cosmetics! Their counter is right next to mine and the workers are always jealous because we get more customers than they do. I’m not saying that MAC is top notch (#TeamNARS), but if you want to attract a customer, you MUST look the part. The people who work at that counter are unappealing, dull and boring. Just like the man’s wife. lolol And I wonder if I’m the only person who thinks of older people (40+) when Bobbi Brown is mentioned? Nevertheless, lovely post and I agree that those colors would bang a lipstick out! lol
LOL!! I didn’t really start getting into Bobbi Brown until last year and I still don’t have much stuff, but I really do love what I have. Their products are fabulous, foreal. The blushes are gorgeous, the foundations are fab…I think that because they’ve been around for so long, there is that “old lady” connotation but its really great stuff.
Yea I saw that Rock the Catwalk had a few things from Bobbi Brown at a super nice discounted rated… so I may purchase a thing or two from that site because I can’t bring myself to pay full price for a cosmetic company I don’t trust or never tried. lol Are all of their blushes shimmery?
nope! if you’re around my skin-tone, try the blush Flame. its insane. soooo pretty and hiiiighly pigmented. i’m such a blush whore lol
LMAO I turned into a blush whore when I started working at MAC. I think numerous BB counters are like that. Besides our counter, people often go to the Bare Escentuals and Chanel counters. They have good people working there as well. But the BB counter? No ma’am! Their ish is always dead. lmao the only thing I’m curious about is their gel liner. And I will definitely look at the Flame blush!
u know what else is funny…the MAC counter i frequent, nobody is ever in the BB section LMAO! such a shame too cuz they’re stuff is really nice! its still hilarious though
I think a lot of Bobbi Brown’s stuff is for a more subdued, work appropriate look instead of the “HELLO DER!” look that some cosmetic companies have. However, they have some amazing products! i am totally in love with their blushes! I just may have to look into this gloss palette. It looks like it is really good!
