Heavens to Betsy! I finally got my Chanel fix in the form of a beautiful blue-based red lipstick called Paris from Chanel’s Rouge Coco line. This lipstick is everything. Smooth, creamy, hydrating, super long lasting…and gorgeous. I have a serious love for beautiful blue-based red lipsticks, they are my favorite — and Paris has wiggled her way into my top favorite reds. I picked this tube up at the Chanel counter at my local Macy’s…after telling myself I wasn’t gonna buy it anytime soon. Chanel lipsticks are expensive, and I just cannot go around spending $30 on a single tube of lipstick all willy-nilly…
However, I had a talk with a co-worker who basically assured me that because I’m single and I don’t have any kids that this is the time to be selfish and spend my money on things I want — because when I get tied down, I won’t have that freedom. She’s right, but still…I have to exercise responsibility lol. I went to the counter just to swatch Paris again and walk away and that’s when it happened. I said to myself, “Screw it, I’m gonna buy this so I can stop lemming”. Now she’s all mine and I’m good on Chanel lipsticks for a while. I probably won’t pick another one up for another month or so.
CHANEL introduces a modern interpretation of classic creme lip colour as an homage to the rich life and legacy of ‘Coco’ Chanel. New lightweight lip colour glides on for easy application, and features a Hydratendre complex to help soften, soothe and condition lips – even boosting their ability to hold in moisture – for a plumper, smoother and healthier-looking appearance. A range of wearable shades with full-coverage finishes, from matte to pearl to soft shimmer.

Paris is beautiful. She’s a clean, bright seriously blue-based red and I think she’d look fabulous on anyone bold enough to even wear red lips to begin with. I reviewed Gabrielle not too long ago, and she’s more of a bright neutral red with small bits of blue whereas Paris is completely blue based. A color dupe for Paris would be MAC’s Ruby Woo — but Ruby Woo is completely matte. If you want this color and don’t wanna shuck out $30 for it, pick up Ruby Woo and wear a clear gloss over it. Paris is way more hydrating and moisturizing than Ruby Woo though, so be aware that they’re two completely different formulas despite the shade similarities. Blue-based reds also help make the teeth appear whiter, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Let me tell ya’ll something kind of embarrassing (but I honestly have no shame)…I put this lipstick on, wore it for about two hours and ate dinner. Well no, that’s not true — I didn’t “eat” my dinner, I wolfed it down like it was my last meal. Lip smacking, finger-licking…all manners were thrown out the window. I ate my meal like I forgot I had this lipstick on — because I did forget I had it on! When I put my plate away and went into the bathroom to wash my hands I said “Oh snap! It stayed on!”. I’m serious when I say it STAYED ON. I didn’t even have to touch it up (except remove a crumb from my bottom lip lol). I was very amazed and happy to see that because nobody likes reapplying their lipstick after every single sip of water, kiss on the cheek, etc. That can get annoying and before you know it, your lipstick is down to a nub.
Again, these lipstick’s are not cheap. They’re a nice to have luxury. If you’ve got the extra money to spend, then pick one up. There are a lot of different shades for all types of appetites. I just happen to be drawn to the reds
*Remember, any lipstick looks best on freshly exfoliated, supple lips. Remove any dead skin flakes, and moisturize prior to application for the best appearance.

the last pic is my favorite! your coworker/friend is right: $30 wasnt that bad in your situation. im single and unattached and if i werent a broke grad student, id shell out $30 for that lipstick. im not mad at it!
thanks sweetness. i agree w/ her. i might as well do me for now while i still can LOL.
If it stayed on through all of that then it’s worth $30. It looks great on you
I agree!! and thanks love
oooh I have this same lipstick too! When I swatched it in the department store, it looked gorgeous on me..but now, two months later.. I think it’s entirely the wrong shade for my skintone which is a shame. I don’t think red suites my skintone which sucks because I love it.
i did my little post on it too here: http://myvirtualshindig.blogspot.com/2010/04/chanel-rouge-coco-lipstick.html
However it looks gorgeous on you! I find it very moisturizing too. ^_^
great post!
thanks girl….buuut u are trippin LOL. that lipstick looks beautiful on you! *smack* such nonsense
Glaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahmorous! *What color/brand is the blue eyeliner?*
Did you use a lip liner? Did you apply with a lip brush? I always have a problem with not getting lipstick inner part of my lips.
I didn’t use a liner with this lip swatch, and i just applied directly from the tube
Wow Resha, you’re looking good as ever! Love the pictures and your blog!! Hope you’re doing good sweety!
Hi Eva!!! I miss you!!
